Later still, the M1902C sight was proposed, and fitted to a few arms. ![]() Krag sights and their (mostly non-interchangeable) handguards are a MORASS. Model of sight often does not "match" model of arm, and the Ordnance Department was ablaze with personal rivalries as to which/whose sight was "best". ![]() To be complete, it should have the handguard, and, most (nearly all of those in collections - as opposed to hunting rifles) specimens do. But, they do not snap on - that is a great way to split the fragile wood - if you find one, disassemble the gun, including rear sight, and slide the handguard on.Ĭarbines were not ORIGINALLY made with swivels, but a significant number have had them added. However, since SOME of these additions were done outside of Army control, most purist collectors seem to prefer carbines without them.ģ56000 was likely made in 1901. ![]()
